A wonderful piece of fashion history! 50’s REVERSIBLE satin souvenir bomber jacket, most likely brought back to the U.S. by a soldier serving in the Korean War.
Both sides (blue with silver sleeve and green with yellow sleeve) have the typical tiger and eagle embroidery on the front. Green side features an embroidered map of Japan on the back, while back of blue side features a ferocious tiger on a branch with “Japan” above it.
Blue side has red and white cord trim on shoulders and sleeves, while green side is quilted on body and sleeves.
Wool blend knit cuffs and collar are maroon and white on green side, and blue and blue and white on blue side.
Heavy duty metal “Speed” zipper is designed with a pull that flips over so it can be used on both sides.
This piece is in good, wearable condition with flaws that honestly add character! Minor stains and pulls in satin, along with a few embroidery thread pulls and quilting thread pulls. White stripe in knit trim is yellowed on both sides, probably due to elastic content. A small section of knit waistband trim is pulled away from seam on front of green side, near zipper. Small seam repairs here and there, as well.
