A chic cocktail dress in a most striking print! Made by Helga for I. Magnin in the early 60’s, with wonderful attention to detail. Masterful bodice construction features a pleated neckline that intertwines at center to form a large stylized bow that sits lengthwise. A black, built-in slip closes on back of waist with a hook and eye, and on mid-back with two strips of elastic and a hook and eye, like a bra strap, giving support to the bust. Straps and neckline inset are in the same rose print fabric as main dress. Large, painterly roses are in pink, blue and purple, with green stems and leaves, against a black background. Lightweight silk blend has a satiny finish. Dress closes on c/b, with a hook and eye at top.
In very good condition. There is some minor, yellow underarm discoloration that’s obscured by the print, and not noticeable when the piece is worn. Also a small, barely noticeable yellow mark on top tip of bow. There’s some very minor print flaws near front hem that are noticeable only upon close inspection.
